Doha: Qatari newspapers, in their Monday editorials, underscored the attendance of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the Award Ceremony of the 9th Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence (ACE) Award. The event paid tribute to individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to combating corruption and establishing the principles of integrity and good governance on a global scale.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers emphasized Qatar's continual international role in combating corruption through pioneering initiatives and effective international partnerships. Al-Watan newspaper highlighted that HH the Amir attended the award ceremony on Sunday morning at Katara Hall in the Fairmont and Raffles Hotels in Doha. During the ceremony, HH the Amir honored Professor Nikos Passas and Dr. Marianne Camerer, winners of the Academic Research and Educational Materials Award, as well as Gloria Pallares-Venials, Tatenda Chitagu, and Andiswa Matekenka, winners of the Innovation and Investigative Journalism Award. Additionally, Mar Niang and Motiullah Wesa were recognized with the Youth Creativity and Engagement Award, along with Drago Kos and Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, who received the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Achievement Award.
The newspaper noted that the award exemplifies Qatar's commitment to partnership with the United Nations and its support for the 16th Sustainable Development Goal, which focuses on building strong institutions, fighting corruption, and establishing principles of integrity and transparency at a global level.
