Doha: Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the significant achievements of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) through its National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, known as Tarsheed. The program resulted in financial savings of approximately QR 840 million last year, alongside a reduction in harmful carbon emissions by 1.2 million tons.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan emphasized that beyond financial savings, the program aligns with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 by protecting national resources. In collaboration with the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, Kahramaa announced the implementation of GCC technical regulations for water conservation devices in Qatar. This initiative includes a range of tools, products, and equipment subject to stringent technical requirements to ensure efficient water consumption and adherence to Gulf standards, enabling consumers to make informed and sustainable purchasing decisions.
Al-Watan concluded by underscoring the essential role of consumers in the success of conservation plans, highlighting the importance of promoting a culture of sustainability in society. This effort is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to provide a decent life for all citizens and residents in Qatar.
