Doha: In its editorial, Al-Raya praised the State of Qatar's efforts to protect the environment through pioneering initiatives and strategic plans, as environmental development is one of the four main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. The newspaper explained that Qatar seeks to localize environmental sustainability by increasing the number of conservation areas.
According to Qatar News Agency, with every step Qatar takes, it moves toward creating a more diverse environment, noting that the concept of sustainability has been integrated into many strategic projects. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has achieved numerous accomplishments in protecting wildlife, developing nature reserves, and monitoring violations. The Ministry, through its Protection and Nature Reserves Sector, issued its Q2 2025 report outlining its efforts in raising environmental awareness and encouraging community participation.
The paper underlined that these efforts are part of the Ministry's broader plan to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which includes continued monitoring and enforcement of environmental regulations, as well as the development and expansion of protected areas by improving their infrastructure and strengthening their environmental management.
Qatar's environment, rich in wildlife such as plants, animals, and fish, is an important part of the Qatari people's heritage and identity, and everyone bears responsibility for its preservation. Qatar considers environmental protection and combating climate change a noble issue and seeks to raise awareness about its importance not only at the local level but globally as well.
In conclusion, Al-Raya commended the initiatives and achievements made in the field of environmental protection and sustainability. Notably, all eight of Qatar's municipalities have been accredited as healthy cities by the World Health Organization (WHO), and the country has succeeded in its initiative to plant one million trees, as well as significantly increasing its green spaces. Protecting the environment and passing it on to future generations in its best condition is a shared responsibility.
