Qatar’s Envoy to UN Discusses Implementation Strategies with UN Under-Secretary-General

New york: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani met with HE Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima at the Permanent Mission's headquarters.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on the partnership between Qatar and the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS). The discussion centered on implementing strategies for the Doha Program of Action (DPoA) for the Least Developed Countries, adopted at the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), which Qatar hosted in March 2025.

HE the Permanent Representative affirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at empowering the least developed countries. This includes enhancing their ability to meet challenges such as eradicating poverty, adapting to climate change, and achieving sustainable development, all within the framework of following up on the DPoA from the LDC5 held in Doha in March 2022.

HE the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations commended the partnership and cooperation with Qatar. She emphasized that the United Nations is committed to intensifying efforts to implement impactful programs for the least developed countries, aligning with the priorities of the DPoA.
