Hanoi:Qatar’s international reserves and foreign currency liquidity experienced a 0.46 percent increase year-on-year in September, reaching QAR 262.279 billion compared to QAR 261.061 billion in September 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, official reserves saw a significant rise of 10.85 percent, totaling QAR 223.447 billion at the end of September 2026, compared to the same period in the previous year. However, the Qatar Central Bank’s holdings of foreign bonds and treasury bills decreased by approximately QAR 44.599 billion, amounting to QAR 88.280 billion.
Components such as foreign bonds and treasury bills, cash balances held with foreign banks, gold holdings, Special Drawing Rights deposits, and Qatar’s share in the International Monetary Fund, along with other liquid foreign-currency assets, make up the total international reserves. The data revealed that gold reserves increased by about QAR 4.378 billion year-on-year, reaching QAR 56.408 billion at the end of September, up from QAR 52.030 billion a year earlier.
Balances held with foreign banks also rose significantly, increasing by around QAR 62.153 billion to QAR 73.554 billion. Conversely, deposits related to Qatar’s Special Drawing Rights allocation with the International Monetary Fund saw a slight decline of QAR 45 million year-on-year, totaling QAR 5.203 billion at the end of September.
