Doha: Qatari national athletics team runner Ismail Dawood won 1st place in the 400m hurdles event at the International Meeting of C.A.Schifflange, Germany, one of the qualifying events for the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25. Ismail recorded a time of 48.04 seconds, his best of the season, outperforming three of Europe's top 400m hurdles athletes: Belgium's Julien Watrin, who finished 2nd, Spain's Jose Delgado in 3rd, and Germany's Joshua Abuaku in 4th.
According to Qatar News Agency, although Ismail had already qualified for the upcoming World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 several months ago, his participation in European athletic meets offers a valuable opportunity to prepare for Tokyo 25, scheduled for September. At the same meet, fellow Qatari athlete Omar Abkar finished 3rd in 110m hurdles, clocking a personal best of 13.37 seconds. Omar still has a chance to qualify for the World Championships in upcoming meets and Diamond League events.
