Doha: The ninth Qatar Equestrian Tour - Longines Hathab kicked off Thursday at the Qatar Equestrian Federation's indoor arena. Organized in partnership with Al Shaqab, the tour will span 14 rounds, running through May, 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the amateur rider category, Joud Bassam Al Aker secured first place with a time of 18.83 seconds, followed by Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Abri in second place at 19.45 seconds, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Marri in third at 19.69 seconds. The top three riders were crowned by the Federation's Director of Support Services, Omar Al Buainain.
In the bronze individual round, Hussain Saeed Haidan claimed victory with a time of 25.05 seconds, ahead of Jaber Rashid Al Amri at 26.50 seconds and Khalid Al Hadi at 28.15 seconds, who took second and third place respectively. The team competition for the same round saw Team The Dome clinch first place with a combined time of 61.54 seconds, followed by Team Shahaleel Al Shaqab at 68.06 seconds and Team Ghazal Al Shaqab at 71.26 seconds. The winners were awarded by Director of the Tour, Abdullah Al Marri.
Al Marri praised the strong start to this year's edition, expressing confidence in the high level of competition expected throughout the season. He highlighted the impressive international performances of Qatari riders during the summer, noting their growing reputation on the global stage.
Al Marri also announced an increase in prize money for the current season, with more than QAR 4.5 million allocated in total. He added that this reflects the Federation's commitment to elevating the level of domestic competitions and creating a competitive environment that motivates riders to excel and proudly represent Qatar on the international stage.
