Doha: HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani affirmed that celebrating the National Day of the State of Qatar is an enduring occasion in the memory of every citizen, highlighting the values of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who established the foundations of the modern state on principles of faith, dignity, and unity.
According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency explained that this occasion is a day of pride and appreciation for the achievements under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He noted that celebrating this occasion embodies the depth of national belonging and reinforces loyalty and solidarity around the leadership, fostering the elevation and prosperity of Qatar. It also serves as an opportunity to renew the pledge to continue on the path of renaissance and comprehensive development.
His Excellency emphasized that the wise leadership has laid the foundations of sustainable development by adhering to the Founder's approach, which has led to a prosperous present. Qatar has experienced an integrated renaissance across all sectors, including security, education, health, the economy, and infrastructure. This progress allows citizens to benefit from the efforts rooted in the Founder's vision and keen foresight.
He added that the State has prioritized the citizen as the center and ultimate goal of development by empowering them and enhancing their role in nation-building and safeguarding achievements. Citizens are aware of their history and recognize that prosperity and stability are extensions of the Founder's approach, necessitating continued dedication to serving the homeland.
Regarding the Ministry of Interior's Strategy (2024-2030), His Excellency explained that it aims to develop an integrated security system using innovation and modern technology. The first year of implementation resulted in significant achievements, including strengthening security and reducing crime rates by over 8 percent compared to the previous year, along with enhancing the efficiency of security responses.
He highlighted that Qatar has topped international safety and security indicators, ranking first in the Middle East and North Africa in the 2025 Global Peace Index and 27th globally according to the Institute for Economics and Peace. This achievement reflects the advanced performance of security agencies and their ability to maintain security and stability, essential for development and economic progress.
His Excellency also pointed out the ongoing development of the Ministry of Interior's digital services, such as the Metrash 2 application and its website, and initiatives like the digital identity, which facilitate quick and secure public transactions.
Furthermore, he noted that Qatar's security leadership over the past decade results from a strategic vision and sustained investment in human capital and infrastructure. The State has adopted a comprehensive security model based on proactive prevention, strengthening partnerships between state institutions and society, and respecting the rule of law and public rights.
Concluding his statements to QNA, HE Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani stated that the integrated efforts of the Ministry of Interior and various security agencies have contributed to a safe and stable environment reflected in all development indicators. He affirmed that security in Qatar has evolved into a national culture involving citizens and residents, supported by the cohesion between leadership and people and the integration of roles among state institutions.
