Qatar’s National Handball Team to Compete Against South Korea in Asian Championship

Kuwait city: The Qatari national handball team is set to face South Korea on Tuesday in the first round of Group A matches at the 22nd Asian Men's Handball Championship. The tournament is currently taking place in Kuwait and will continue until January 26.

According to Qatar News Agency, the championship serves as a qualifier for the 2027 World Men's Handball Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Germany. Both Qatar and South Korea have already secured their spots in the main round. This comes after Qatar's decisive 27-15 victory over Oman and South Korea's 29-24 triumph against Oman in the first round.

The Qatari team is aiming for a win against South Korea to finish the group stage at the top of Group A. The Asian Championship draw placed Qatar in Group A alongside South Korea and Oman. Meanwhile, Group B includes Bahrain, Iraq, China, and Jordan; Group C features Kuwait, the UAE, Hong Kong, and India; and Group D consists of Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.
