Qatar’s UN Representative Engages in Key Talks with UN Middle East Envoy

New York: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, engaged in a virtual meeting with HE UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Middle East and Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag. The discussion centered on the cooperation between Qatar and the United Nations, focusing on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting highlighted Qatar's successful efforts, in collaboration with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the US, in facilitating a ceasefire agreement and the exchange of detainees and prisoners. HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to UN emphasized the need to ensure the agreement's implementation at all stages, aiming for a sustainable ceasefire. This would serve as a foundation for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue, aligned with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution vision.
