Doha: The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) to foster cooperation in education, scientific research, and community development.
According to Qatar News Agency, both parties aim to establish partnerships in education and research. The agreement highlights the shared belief of CMU-Q and QBA in the crucial role educational institutions play in enhancing the quality of the economy and society.
The collaboration will focus on scholarships, training, exchange of expertise, public policy, business management, information systems, national capacity building, specialized academic conferences, and community development initiatives.
During the MoU signing, HE Chairman of QBA Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani emphasized Qatar's Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, which prioritizes educational outcomes. He noted that QBA is committed to supporting graduates by facilitating their labor market entry and creating opportunities, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.
His Excellency further stated that through its partnership with CMU-Q, QBA seeks to enhance academic and scientific research efforts in line with the goals of Qatar's Third National Strategy. He underscored the importance of strategic partnerships between the business community and academic institutions to accelerate the application of research findings in economic sectors, boosting private sector productivity.
The Qatari Businessmen Association plans to leverage CMU-Q's educational programs and strategic research, particularly in computer science, business administration, and information systems, as well as its renowned colleges and research centers in the United States.
Dean of CMU-Q Michael Trick expressed his pleasure in signing the agreement, highlighting its contribution to the successful implementation of the Third National Development Strategy, where education and technology are key pillars. He emphasized Carnegie Mellon's commitment to using its research and technological capabilities to support the partnership, aiming to develop innovative solutions to enhance private sector productivity.
Furthermore, the collaboration seeks to prepare a new generation of highly skilled professionals equipped to integrate into the labor market or launch ventures in the digital economy, supporting Qatar's ambition to become a regional hub for innovation.
QBA and Carnegie Mellon University have agreed to establish a joint working group to ensure the effective implementation of the cooperation outlined in the MoU.
