Doha: Qatar Chamber board member and Chairman of the Gold and Jewellery Committee Naser bin Sulaiman Al Haider presided over the committee's meeting held recently at the Chamber's venue in the presence of other members. The meeting was attended by representatives from the General Authority of Customs (GAC), including Assistant Director of the Exemptions Department Ali Mohammed Al Marri, Head of the Customs Value Department Abdullah Jassim Haji, and Expert at the Customs Policies and Procedures Department Salah Abdul Samee.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, the committee reviewed several inquiries submitted by members concerning the import of gold, silver, and jewelry. For his part, Head of the Customs Value Department Abdullah Jassim Haji delivered a detailed presentation on gold import procedures. He highlighted the challenges facing companies and factories operating in the gold and jewelry sector and provided comprehensive responses to the inquiries raised.
The step aims to strengthen cooperation between the private sector and the General Authority of Customs and to facilitate procedures related to the import of precious metals, thereby supporting the growth and competitiveness of Qatar's gold and jewelry industry.
