Doha: The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) hosted the fifth meeting of regional civil aviation organizations today, held on the sidelines of the ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025) currently underway in Doha. Senior officials from key aviation bodies, including the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), and the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC), participated in the event.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting was inaugurated by Mohammed bin Faleh Al Hajri, Acting President of the Civil Aviation Authority, who delivered a welcoming speech. He expressed Qatar's pride in hosting the meeting, underscoring the nation's commitment to fostering cooperation and dialogue among stakeholders in the global civil aviation sector.
The agenda of the meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between regional civil aviation organizations, discussing joint coordination efforts, and addressing priorities in preparation for the upcoming 42nd ICAO General Assembly.
Additionally, bilateral talks were held between the Civil Aviation Authority and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), attended by Al Hajri, AFCAC President HE Florent Serge Dzouta, and Secretary General Adefunke Adeyemi. These discussions explored ways to develop a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering integration and coordination in civil aviation at both regional and international levels.
Furthermore, the day saw bilateral talks between Qatar's civil aviation authorities and those of the Solomon Islands, culminating in the initialing of an Air Services Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Open Skies Policy. The MoU allows designated carriers from both nations to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo flights with full traffic rights.
This agreement reflects the mutual aspirations of Qatar and the Solomon Islands to advance air transport services and strengthen bilateral cooperation in civil aviation. The agreement and MoU were signed by Al Hajri and HE Minister of Communication and Aviation of the Solomon Islands, Fredrick Kologeto.
