Doha: The Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced Sunday a decision to restructure the Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, renaming it the Local Organizing Committee for Football Events from 2024 to 2034. The committee was reconstituted under the chairmanship of HE Minister of Sports and Youth Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, with Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim serving as the Chief Executive Officer. The new committee will oversee the organization of several major football events, including the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and the FIFA Arab Cup in the years 2025, 2029, and 2033. Additionally, the committee will manage the FIFA U-17 World Cup tournaments from 2025 through 2029. It's worth noting that the FIFA Council approved Qatar's request to host the next three editions of the Arab Cup in 2025, 2029, and 2033 during its 74th meeting held in Bangkok in May. Furthermore, in June, FIFA confirmed that Qatar will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup fr om 2025 to 2029, with the tournament expanded to include 48 teams and held annually rather than every two years.
