Doha: The Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber recently concluded the 'Qualification and Preparation of Arbitrators Program,' which was conducted in collaboration with Qatar University's Centre for Continuing Education.
According to Qatar News Agency, the program was designed to equip Qatari personnel with scientific and training knowledge focused on the field of arbitration. The concluding ceremony was attended by HE QICCA Board Member for International Relations, Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani, at the Law College headquarters. At the event, Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani awarded graduation certificates to the 23 trainees, who hailed from various governmental and semi-governmental entities.
The final stage of the program included a 'Practical Mock Trial,' and Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani highlighted the significant participation of trainees from diverse fields such as law and engineering. He noted that since its inception in 2007, the program has successfully trained numerous arbitrators, providing them with comprehensive arbitration knowledge and practical experience essential for the field.
He also underscored QICCA's commitment to supporting graduates by enhancing their expertise and facilitating practical experience through various initiatives. The program, which took place at Qatar University from January 19 to February 19, consisted of five stages. These stages covered the concept of commercial arbitration, its practical applications, arbitration case management procedures, drafting arbitration awards, and a practical training segment, including a mock trial with the involvement of all trainees.
