Lusail: President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and President of Lusail International Circuit, Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai, affirmed that the Qatar 1812km race, which served as the opening round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship, was a resounding success on all fronts.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Mannai expressed delight in the success of the second edition of the Qatar 1812km race, highlighting achievements in organization and technological advancements. In his statement, he mentioned the pleasure of hosting teams, drivers, and fans at the Lusail International Circuit, reinforcing Qatar's status as a hub for motorsport development in the region. He credited the successful event to the relentless efforts of stakeholders, including the Lusail International Circuit, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, dedicated volunteers, and numerous Qatari institutions and ministries.
Al Mannai took pride in the strong Qatari presence during the event, commending the remarkable performances of Qatari drivers in the races held alongside the main event. He emphasized the importance of developing homegrown talent in motorsports as a top priority.
During the event, QMMF and Qatar Motor Academy drivers visited the Peugeot team garage, gaining insights into endurance racing. Al Mannai highlighted the role of global championships in nurturing local drivers, pointing out that competitions such as the Formula 4 Middle East Championship offer an invaluable platform for young talents to gain experience.
He concluded by reinforcing the commitment to fostering local talent and building a sustainable motorsports ecosystem in Qatar, allowing Qatari drivers to compete alongside international professionals for future generations.
