Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) has revealed plans to host an engaging series of cultural activities and events throughout December in celebration of Qatar National Day. These initiatives aim to unite the community in honoring the nation's rich heritage and values. According to Qatar News Agency, QNL's schedule features the 'Dakka' and 'Our Heritage, Our Pride' festivals, a heritage seminar, and family-friendly events that highlight both Qatar's historical legacy and its progressive vision. The celebrations will commence on December 6 with the Dakka Festival, a lively homage to QNL inspired by the traditional Dakka, symbolizing unity and togetherness. QNL has invited families to partake in cultural performances and interactive activities as part of the Cultural Mosaic series, showcasing the beauty of Islamic culture and the global diversity that enhances Qatar's cultural landscape. On December 8, QNL's Heritage Library will host a seminar titled 'The History of Qatar and the Arabian Gulf Through Archiva l Documents.' This event will delve into significant moments in Qatar's history and its cultural impact within the Gulf and Arab world. Esteemed historians, including Dr. Hamad Al Ghadeed from Qatar University, Dr. Philippe Petriat from Sorbonne University, and Dr. Abdulrahman Alebrahim from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, will analyze archival records to illuminate pivotal events in Qatar's past. The National Day festivities will continue on December 13 with Our Heritage, Our Pride, an outdoor family event celebrating Qatari culture. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience cultural tents, interactive workshops, and traditional storytelling sessions. Additionally, children will have the chance to meet Ramli, the Library's beloved mascot. On December 14, architect Fatma Ibrahim Al Sahlawi will present An Architectural Vision Through Innovative Qatari Eyes, a discussion on Qatar's urban transformations and a forward-looking vision emphasizing innovation and architectural excellence. Artist Haifa Al Khuzai will lead Cultural Mosaic: Qatari Identity Through Art on December 15, a hands-on workshop that uses creative expression to explore Qatari heritage and identity. Participants will create artistic pieces blending traditional and contemporary styles in a celebration of cultural craftsmanship. In addition to the National Day events, QNL will provide a range of activities throughout December. The Winter Camp, from December 21 to January 1, will offer children and young adults a mix of storytelling, creative workshops, STEM programs, and 3D modeling sessions designed to inspire curiosity and learning during the winter break.
