Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) has announced a series of events during the month of February, including a range of workshops, performances, and cultural activities that cater to the interests of all segments of society, most notably the Parents to Be Festival.

According to Qatar News Agency, the month kicks off on 1 February with the workshop “A Glimmer of Hope for Lebanon”, a creative session designed to express solidarity with Lebanon through art. Attendees can participate by painting canvases or designing postcards that carry messages of hope.

On 8 February, the Library will celebrate National Sport Day with a full day of activities and games, offering an opportunity for families to engage in entertaining sporting challenges.

One of the key activities offered by QNL is Qatar Reads’ “Parents to Be Festival” that will run from 13 to 15 February. This festival aims to empower parents by providing opportunities to connect with experts, explore useful books, and discover products that support them on their parenting journey. The Festival will include a lineup of activities and experiences designed to support parents featuring a family market with a curated selection of products and books that meet the needs of parents, in addition to interactive discussion sessions with experts, and a special area for workshops for children and adults.

On 17 February, the Library invites participants to explore the world of Moroccan calligraphy in a hands-on workshop led by Youssef Hussein Al Mallah, who will highlight the history and techniques of Moroccan calligraphy, while celebrating renowned calligraphers who mastered the thuluth and Moroccan styles.

For music enthusiasts, the experience continues on 20 February with a musical evening presented by the Doha String Quartet, featuring Franz Schubert’s compositions. Rounding out the month’s events, QNL will host the “Write to Inspire: Short Story Writing Workshop” on 22 February, offering guidance on crafting impactful 500-word stories in Arabic or English. Participants will have the opportunity to submit their stories to be featured in QNL’s Short Story Dispenser at the 34th Doha International Book Fair.
