Mies: HE First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, who also serves as President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), engaged in discussions with FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis today at the Federation's headquarters in Mies, Switzerland.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on the latest preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, set to take place in Qatar. The discussions also explored various aspects of cooperation between the QOC and FIBA, aiming to ensure an exceptional event that aligns with FIBA's aspirations and demonstrates Qatar's readiness to host major international sporting events.
Before the meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan had the opportunity to tour the FIBA Museum. During the tour, he observed historical artifacts and gained insights into the museum's role as a source of inspiration for basketball enthusiasts and players globally.
This meeting is part of a series of regular interactions between the Qatar Olympic Committee and the International Basketball Federation. The objective is to enhance joint coordination for organizing a memorable edition of the Basketball World Cup that Doha aspires to be the finest in the tournament's history.
