QRCS Delivers QR45 Million Qatari Medical Aid to Syria

Damascus: A high-level delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) arrived at Damascus International Airport today, as part of the efforts made by the Qatari government and humanitarian organizations to support the resilience of the people, institutions, and vital sectors of Syria.

According to Qatar News Agency, the delegation was headed by HE QRCS President Yousef bin Ali Al Khater, HE Secretary-General Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi, Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development Mohamed Bader Al Sada, and Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and Resource Development Mohamed Ahmed Al Beshri. They were received by prominent Syrian officials including HE Syria's Minister of Health Dr. Musaab Nazzal Al Ali, and HE Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Syria, Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud.

The purpose of this humanitarian visit was to deliver a new batch of Qatari aid under the 'Take Heart Syria' initiative, containing medical equipment and supplies donated by Sidra Medicine, Al-Tafa'ol Trading Company, United International Trading Company, and Doha Health Care Group, in coordination with QRCS, SARCS, and Syria's Ministry of Health (MOH).

The Qatari delegation arrived aboard a Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) aircraft, carrying 12 tons of critical and sophisticated medical equipment to help Syrian hospitals continue providing quality health care services for patients. This airlift was preceded by three land aid convoys, which delivered a total of 78 tons of aid, bringing the total volume of aid to 90 tons, valued over QR 45 million (approximately $12.5 million).

In his keynote speech, HE Al Khater highlighted the cooperation between various Qatari and Syrian entities in sending a message of solidarity to Syria, aiming to revitalize the Syrian health care sector. He noted QRCS's long-term involvement since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2012, implementing projects valued at $160 million, benefiting over 13 million Syrians.

HE Dr. Al Ali expressed the Syrian government's gratitude for the medical shipment, emphasizing the deep bonds of brotherhood between Syria and Qatar. HE Al Mahmoud reiterated Qatar's commitment to supporting Syria, stressing the strategic nature of this aid shipment and its distribution across various Syrian governorates.

HE Dr. Bakleh and HE Al Emadi emphasized the importance of the aid, detailing the sophisticated medical equipment included in the shipment. They expressed appreciation for the collaboration with QRCS and anticipated the positive impact on Syria's health care services.
