QRCS Ramadan Campaign to Reach Out to 17 Countries

Doha: As the holy month of Ramadan began, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) initiated the activities of its annual Ramadan Campaign under the theme "Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive." The drive involves numerous humanitarian projects and charitable initiatives to be implemented in Qatar and 17 other countries, thanks to the generous contributions of Qatari and non-Qatari donors.

According to Qatar News Agency, Managing Director, Secretary-General of QRCS, Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashem Al Sada, emphasized the importance of this year's campaign, stating that Ramadan comes at a critical time for the region and the world, with escalating tensions and crises threatening safe communities and worsening conditions for those affected by natural disasters and conflicts. The campaign is divided into two main parts, focusing on Ramadan Iftar projects and year-round humanitarian and development initiatives.

Eng. Al Sada highlighted that QRCS plans to distribute Ramadan food parcels to more than 300,000 people in 18 countries. The food parcels contain local staples and are categorized with varying costs, including QR 500 for Qatar, QR 475 for Gaza, and QR 385 for countries such as Sudan, Syria, and Somalia, among others. For Yemen, Niger, and other specified countries, the cost is QR 255.

For the third consecutive year, QRCS is implementing the On-the-Go Ramadan Iftar initiative, sponsored by Lulu Hypermarket and partnered with Katara Cultural Village. Volunteers will distribute light Iftar meals to visitors and drivers at Katara, with a total of 10,000 meals distributed throughout Ramadan.

A new initiative, Hearo Meals, allows talabat customers to donate meals to riders directly through the app. Participating restaurants offer curated meal options, enabling customers to support riders by adding a Hero Meal to their orders.

Other local projects include Ramadan Iftar and Zakat initiatives benefiting 1,500 families, the Stand Together program distributing food parcels and aid, and the "Joy of Eid" initiative for expatriate workers.

The second part of the campaign focuses on year-round projects, with QRCS aiming to mobilize community support for nearly 190 initiatives related to food security, shelter, education, healthcare, and more. In Qatar, permanent development programs will support vulnerable groups, including those in debt, orphans, and individuals with disabilities.

Internationally, QRCS plans to reach 6.7 million beneficiaries affected by disasters and crises in countries such as Palestine, Somalia, Niger, and Yemen, among others.
