QSE Introduces Engineer Clinic Initiative to Assist Citizens with Construction Issues

Doha: Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) has launched a new initiative called Engineer Clinic within its Engineers Without Borders Program.

According to Qatar News Agency, the initiative aims to utilize the skills of a group of volunteer engineers to address complex engineering challenges and offer solutions to civil society in Qatar.

Eng. Khalid AbdulRahim Al Sayed, a Board Member of QSE and Director of the Engineers Without Borders program, stated that the initiative is designed to support Qatari families and individuals who are about to embark on construction projects. The program taps into a pool of engineering talent across various disciplines to provide technical assistance and resolve disputes with contractors.

Al Sayed emphasized that these engineering clinics are more than just consultative services; they serve as a resource for resolving issues with contracting companies by providing citizens with necessary technical support. The clinics aim to offer creative and cost-effective engineering solutions, alleviate financial burdens on families and charitable organizations, and ensure engineering quality through field oversight.

He further explained that the Engineers Without Borders Program serves as a bridge connecting engineering expertise with community needs. The program is committed to contributing to societal welfare by promoting volunteerism in engineering, ensuring cost-effective designs, and maintaining high construction standards.

The initiative also reflects the program's dedication to social responsibility and sustainable development. Al Sayed noted that the program was launched alongside its official website last December, and it seeks to enhance corporate volunteerism and leverage national engineering expertise for humanitarian and development projects.

The program includes two tracks: a flexible volunteering schedule and recorded programs for engineers to choose from. Since its launch, the program has seen a strong response, with many engineers volunteering their services.

Al Sayed mentioned that to accelerate the program's impact, meetings will be held with local partners such as government agencies and charitable organizations. These collaborations aim to align with national priorities and provide the necessary support to achieve the program's goals of community service and sustainable urban development.
