QSTP President Highlights AI Week 2024’s Role in Advancing Research Awareness.

Doha: Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) President Dr. Jack Lau praised AI Week 2024 as an essential platform for enhancing research awareness and strengthening business ties. The week-long event, held from November 24-28, 2024, marked QSTP's 15th anniversary and attracted a diverse audience. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Lau expressed his satisfaction with the significant interest in AI Week 2024, which drew 3,000 visitors, 260 school students, and 100 participants in the AI Hackathon. He emphasized that the event's outcomes would impact the short, medium, and long term, underscoring the QSTP's transformation into a hub for technological talent, attracting entrepreneurs and innovators. QSTP's Relation Manager Essa Al Jamali stated that the event aimed to gather emerging companies, technology experts, academics, and AI enthusiasts for workshops and discussions. Several government agencies, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Qatar Scientific Club, and the Al Jazeera Media Institute, participated in the event. Al Jamali highlighted the opportunity for companies, both local and international, to present their AI research and projects, facilitating knowledge exchange among students. Hamad Al Qasmi, Industrial Director of Information and Communication Technology at QSTP, noted the signing of memoranda of understanding and contracts during the event. He mentioned the strong interest from foreign companies in establishing a presence in Qatar, reflecting the public's growing awareness of artificial intelligence. QSTP is committed to continuing its initiatives and programs to accelerate business and attract international companies. Additionally, the park is developing new programs to expand Qatar's technology market and support emerging companies' growth. Al Qasmi expressed optimism for replicating the event's success in the coming year. The AI Week concluded with awards for outstanding projects, such as 'VISION' for Persons with Disabilities and 'Gulf Security' for S ecurity. Other winners included 'Trash Ready' for Recycling, 'Home Ai' for Smart Homes, and 'Ai Assistant for Mental Health' for Mental Health. These awards highlighted innovation across various technology sectors. AI Week 2024 celebrated QSTP's 15th anniversary with a dynamic program that included expert lectures, panels, workshops, and live technology demonstrations. The event attracted professionals, researchers, and technology enthusiasts globally, showcasing the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and fostering collaboration in AI-driven innovation. Qatar Science and Technology Park, part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, supports Qatar's innovation ecosystem and economic diversification. The park focuses on energy, environment, health sciences, and information and communication technology, aligning with Qatar National Research Strategy.
