Russia Warns Arctic Transforming Into Confrontation Zone

Moscow: The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning regarding the Arctic potentially evolving into a zone of confrontation.

According to Qatar News Agency, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, highlighted that the Arctic is increasingly becoming a field of conflict due to actions by Western nations. He noted that the situation is growing more complex, moving away from its historical status as a peaceful region.

Maslennikov expressed concerns that the Arctic is transitioning from a peripheral zone in global geopolitical disputes into a contested area fraught with political and military tension. He emphasized Russia's willingness to work with all nations, including the United States, that approach with constructive intentions.

He further stressed the significance of resuming balanced dialogue to address and solve mutual issues in the Arctic, underscoring Russia's openness to cooperation with partners who seek amicable resolutions.
