Odesa: Two people were injured and key port infrastructure was damaged in Ukraine's southern Odesa region following an overnight Russian drone attack, Ukrainian authorities said on Friday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that the strikes destroyed part of a residential apartment and ignited a fire on the roof of a 16-storey building. Another blaze broke out in a separate structure in the same area.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority stated that facilities in the greater Odesa region and along the Danube River were targeted, resulting in damage to berthing and storage infrastructure. Fires at the affected sites were swiftly contained, limiting further losses.
Since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, Russia and Ukraine have traded near-daily claims of missile and drone strikes, many of which remain difficult to independently verify.
