Moscow, Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova, announced that turnout in the last presidential elections set a record in the history of modern Russia, reaching 77.44 %, with more than 87.1 million citizens voting. 12,711,387 Russian citizens voted in these elections, Pamfilova stated in a press statement on Monday according to RT website. This record is unprecedented number, as it reached 77.44%, Pamfilova noted. Pamfilova pointed out that all polling centers had completed almost all of the vote counting operations, with a percentage of 99.74 of the final counts, and that the Central Elections Commission (CEC) would officially announce the results of the Russian presidential elections next Thursday. According to CEC and according to the aforementioned counting processes, independent candidate Vladimir Putin leads the results with 87.3 %, followed by Nikolay Kharitonov with 4.3%, Vladislav Davankov with 3.83%and Leonid Slutsky with 3.21%.
