Russian President Ratifies Agreement to Enhance Military Cooperation with India

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin ratified on Monday the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and India on procedures for deploying military formations and the entry of warships and military aircraft into the territories of both countries. The agreement aims to define procedures for deploying military formations, the entry of warships into ports, and the use of Russian and Indian military aircraft of airspace and airport infrastructure.

According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement provides logistical support for the military formations of both countries during joint exercises, humanitarian aid, and relief efforts following natural and man-made disasters, as well as in other mutually agreed-upon cases. Ratification of the agreement will contribute to the development and strengthening of military cooperation between Russia and India, and establish simplified notification procedures for the entry of warships of the Russian and Indian fleets into the ports of both countries, as well as the use of airspace and airport infrastructure by military aircraft of both countries.

Earlier this month, the Russian President paid an official visit to India, his first since 2021, which aimed to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
