Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, during a phone call on Friday, discussed with his US counterpart, Lloyd Austin, ways to avoid security threats between the two countries. The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed, in a statement, that the two ministers, in their second telephone conversation within a month, exchanged views regarding reducing the risks of possible escalation resulting from the crisis between Moscow and Kiev. In their previous contact, on June 25, the two sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, where Belousov noted the danger of further escalation of the situation against the backdrop of the United States continuing to supply weapons to Ukrainian forces.
