Rwandan Ambassador Highlights Strategic Partnership with Qatar During HH the Amir’s Visit

Doha: HE Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the State of Qatar, Igor Marara Kayinamura, emphasized that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Rwanda underscores the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, Ambassador Kayinamura stated that this visit, which marks HH the Amir's third to Rwanda, signifies a continuous commitment to the bilateral relations founded on friendship and trust between the two nation's leaderships. He highlighted the mutual visits between HH the Amir and HE President of Rwanda as a testament to this relationship.

The ambassador noted that high-level dialogues have translated mutual visions into tangible cooperation across various fields. He expressed confidence that this visit would further strengthen the existing alliance, enhance economic and development partnerships, and open new avenues for cooperation, ultimately benefiting both Qatari and Rwandan peoples.

The visit will address several key areas of development, including aviation, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, food security, and technology. The talks aim to expand economic cooperation into renewable energy and digital innovation, with the potential for new agreements to be signed, supporting the growing momentum in bilateral relations.

Ambassador Kayinamura highlighted significant projects, such as the Bugesera International Airport, which will bolster Rwanda's economic connectivity and serve as a gateway to East Africa. Direct flights between Qatar and Rwanda have also positively impacted passenger traffic and enhanced the capacity for Rwandan exports.

He outlined cooperation mechanisms in governance, corruption combatting, and knowledge-sharing, emphasizing the alignment of values between the two countries, particularly in governance, human development, and stability.

Ambassador Kayinamura noted that Qatar's expertise in investment and infrastructure aligns with Rwanda's innovation-driven economy, highlighting the potential for collaboration in Kigali Innovation City. He also mentioned the role of Qatari investors in supporting digital infrastructure and technology services development.

In tourism, he commended Qatar's contributions to Rwanda's ecotourism sector and the support of Qatar Airways. He also highlighted opportunities in the energy sector, particularly solar power, where Qatari investments could play a crucial role.

The ambassador called for stronger ties through trade, academic, cultural, and tourism exchanges, emphasizing that high-level visits provide a platform for strategic discussions and cooperation expansion.

Ambassador Kayinamura concluded by acknowledging the personal relationship between the nations' leaders, which fosters mutual trust and facilitates cooperation across various sectors. He expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, highlighting the potential for collaboration in the digital economy, innovation, financial services, education, and healthcare, which promise mutual benefits.
