S. Korea Decides to Suspend Inter-Korean Tension Reduction Pact

The presidential National Security Council (NSC) in South Korea decided Monday to suspend the 2018 inter-Korean reduction pact until mutual trust is restored to North Korea's massive sending of trash-carrying balloons into South Korea. The NSC held a meeting with related ministries to evaluate North Korea's recent series of provocations and agreed to propose a motion suspending the Comprehensive Military Agreement during a Cabinet meeting slated for Tuesday, Yonhap News Agency reported. On November 23, 2023, South Korea announced a partial suspension of the 2018 inter-Korean tension reduction agreement in response to Pyongyang's launch of a military reconnaissance satellite.
