Saidam: Britain is required to recognize Palestine without delay

Ramallah - Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, Dr. Sabri Saidam, stressed today, Thursday, during his meeting with the British Consul General, Diane Corner, in his office in Ramallah, the necessity for Britain to translate what it previously announced regarding its readiness to recognize the State of Palestine without procrastination or postponement, in a manner consistent with the resolutions of international legitimacy, and to lift the diplomatic cover from the Israeli occupation government, which openly rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state, and some of its pillars even go so far as to publicly declare their desire to annex other Arab countries to what is known as Greater Israel. Saidam stressed that Britain's taking this step would not only be a correction of a historical mistake resulting from the Balfour Declaration, but would also be an explicit call for more countries in the world, especially the rest of the European Union countries, to recognize the Palestinia n state. Saidam Corner presented the picture of the genocidal and destructive war that our people are facing in the Gaza Strip, especially what is happening in the north of the Strip these days of displacement, starvation and terror, in addition to the daily attacks carried out by the settlers and the occupation army in the Palestinian villages, towns and cities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the systematic displacement of entire population centers throughout the West Bank, especially in the Jordan Valley, and the continuous storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the camps and the bombing of those camps by aircraft and targeting the safe and the siege imposed on all entrances to Palestinian cities and villages, indicating that the silence of some is what constitutes the green light for the occupation government to implement its plans to displace and erase the Palestinian right to exist. In turn, Corner stressed Britain's position calling for the necessity of stopping the war and working to implement int ernational legitimacy resolutions on the basis of the two-state solution and supporting the Relief Agency in continuing its work and providing relief to the Palestinians.
