Doha: June 09 - Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation "Katara" Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti inaugurated on Sunday the "Sanxingdui World Exhibition of National Treasures (Sanxingdui Encounter): A Global Tour of 12k Micro Viewing of National Treasures," exhibition at Building No. 1. This event is part of Katara's efforts to build bridges of communication and exchange between different cultures and peoples. The opening ceremony was attended by HE Minister of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party for Deyang Municipal Committee Wu Qungang, along with several Chinese officials, and Their Excellencies ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Qatar. The exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Sanxingdui Museum in China, features posters of the ancient city of Sanxingdui and its ancient civilizations. Sanxingdui is one of the oldest archaeological sites in Southwest China. Archaeological discoveries since the 20th century have revealed that th e Chengdu Plain was the center of ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and a significant part of Chinese civilization. The exhibition includes various artifacts such as a bronze head statue from the Shang dynasty, a bronze statue with a beast crown, and highlights the heritage value of the Sanxingdui-Jinsha sites. In his speech during the opening ceremony, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti emphasized the importance of the exhibition, which features rare bronze artifacts and treasures from the largest archaeological museum in Southwest China. He noted that the exhibition tells a story of over 4,000 years of rich Chinese history, showcasing human creativity in the Shu civilization and presenting a bright picture of the flourishing and diverse bronze culture in East Asia and the world. Dr. Al Sulaiti added that the exhibition underscores Katara's efforts to enhance cooperation among different cultures and to open windows for visitors to learn about them. He also recalled previous dive rse Chinese events and exhibitions hosted by Katara. The attendees also watched a presentation on the archaeological discoveries in the Sanxingdui area and the importance of the historical artifacts displayed, which reveal a significant phase in Chinese history. It is noteworthy that the new Sanxingdui Museum, located in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, is the largest archaeological museum in Southwest China.
