Saudi Cultural Week Showcases Rich Heritage at Darb Al-Saai

Umm Salal: The Saudi Cultural Week concluded at Darb Al-Saai in Umm Salal. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with its Saudi counterpart from February 18 to 21, amid remarkable attendance from the public.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture for International Cultural Relations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Kanaan, and Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali toured the activities held during this event.

This event was within the framework of enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation between the two countries. It featured many activities and shows that highlighted the richness and diversity of the Saudi cultural heritage, with the participation of an elite group of craftsmen and specialists in the fields of arts and heritage.

The event provided the public with the opportunity to interact with the rich Saudi heritage through various daily shows, reflecting different aspects of Saudi culture, in addition to enhancing dialogue between cultures, and encouraging artistic and creative communication between creators from different countries.

Several prominent cultural bodies participated in the Saudi Cultural Week, including the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, the Heritage Commission, the Music Commission, the Film Commission, the Architecture and Design Commission, the Libraries Commission, the Fashion Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, in addition to the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy Initiative.

The event also witnessed the participation of the "Year of Handicrafts 2025" initiative in the State of Qatar as its first international participation, where a special pavilion for the initiative presented introductory content on the importance of handicrafts, with the participation of a number of craftsmen who showcased their skills and interacted directly with the audience.

In a related context, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy initiative organized an Arabic calligraphy exhibition, in which a group of unique collectibles were displayed, including traditional Arabic calligraphy tools, in addition to an introductory video about the center, its strategy and its roles in serving Arabic calligraphy.

The Ministry of Culture's Culture and Arts Department Director Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Dulaimi stated that the Saudi Cultural Week was not just a series of events, but rather a window through which the depth of Saudi culture with its heritage, artistic and creative dimensions was presented. It witnessed great interaction and interest from the attendees, which confirms the convergence of Qatari and Saudi cultures and that they constitute an extension of the shared history and similar identity.

Al Dulaimi extended his sincere thanks to the Saudi Ministry of Culture and all the artists who contributed to the success of this week, stressing the Ministry of Culture's commitment to continue this approach by hosting more cultural events that enhance the local cultural movement and open new horizons for cooperation with various peoples.
