Tashkent: The second session of the Qatari-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the attendance and participation of a number of senior officials and representatives of the public and private sectors from both countries. HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed chaired Qatar's side at the session, while HE Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov chaired Uzbekistan's side.
According to Qatar News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry indicated that the convening of this session comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the horizons of economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan. This reflects the shared will and clear strategic vision to develop the economic and investment partnership between the two sides.
In his opening remarks, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs emphasized the depth of Qatari-Uzbek relations, which are witnessing rapid growth in various fields. He emphasized the importance of activating the role of the private sector through the establishment of the Qatari-Uzbek Businessmen Council, which will enhance communication channels between investors and expand the base of joint projects on solid and sustainable foundations.
His Excellency urged for intensifying efforts to capitalize on available opportunities and expand areas of cooperation in priority sectors. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing direct air links between Doha and Tashkent, given its pivotal role in facilitating trade and stimulating economic and tourism exchange between the two countries.
His Excellency also emphasized the pivotal role played by the joint committee as a strategic platform that contributes to developing a clear roadmap for bilateral cooperation and monitoring the implementation of joint initiatives and projects, ensuring the sustainability of the partnership and achieving mutual interests between the two parties.
On the sidelines of the session, HE the Minister held a bilateral meeting with HE Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, during which they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and explore prospects for a sustainable economic partnership, reflecting the aspirations of the two countries to expand horizons of joint growth and achieve greater prosperity.
