Shanghai Masters: Russia’s Medvedev Completes Semifinal Line-Up

Shanghai: World No. 16 Daniil Medvedev of Russia secured the final spot in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000 tournament after defeating Australia's Alex de Minaur (world No. 7) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in their quarterfinal clash today. The match, which marked the conclusion of the quarterfinal round, was of moderate intensity, with Medvedev controlling much of the play and facing little resistance en route to victory.

According to Qatar News Agency, Medvedev will face France's Arthur Rinderknech (ranked 54th globally) in the semifinals. Rinderknech continued his impressive run against higher-ranked opponents by defeating Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime (world No. 13) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

In the other semifinal, Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic will meet Monaco's Valentin Vacherot. Djokovic advanced after a straight-sets win over Belgium's Zizou Bergs in the quarterfinals yesterday. Vacherot made history by becoming the first player from Monaco to reach the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters, following a three-set victory over Denmark's Holger Rune.
