Qatar Football Association (QFA) has nominated HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani for the position of vice-president of Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) for Asia, and member of UAFA's Council for the current electoral session which extends until 2025.
In a statement published on its website, QFA affirmed that elections would be held within the agenda of UAFA General Assembly meeting to be held on Aug. 10, 2023 at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In the elections held in June 2021 to select the new executive office for UAFA in its new session 2021-2025, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal elected president of UAFA by acclamation.
Former president of QFA HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani won the membership of FIFA Council in the elections that were held during the 33rd Congress of the Asian Confederation last February.
