Manama, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, has affirmed Bahrain's leading role in spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence, as well as the culture of peace among countries and peoples, based on His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's comprehensive development process and noble initiatives. He pointed out that the royal initiatives have established Bahrain as a role model for respecting human rights and dignity, based on justice, peace, coexistence and dialogue, consolidating the kingdom's deep-rooted status as the land that guarantees religious freedoms, citizenship rights and peaceful coexistence among all groups. In a statement marking the International Day of Conscience, observed worldwide every April 5, the Shura Chairman expressed pride in the kingdom's progress in all fields, under the leadership of HM the King, praising Bahrain's wide-ranging national achievements gained thanks to the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khal ifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said that the global celebration of the International Day of Conscience, which was adopted by the United Nations following the initiative of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, is of utmost importance as it promotes a culture of conscience. This initiative plays a major role in boosting countries' endeavours in sustainable development, advancing global security and stability, as well as spreading the culture of peace with love and conscience. Al Saleh emphasised the Shura Council's constant keenness to make national legislation compatible with noble human values, and consistent with the royal visions that promote the principles of peace and coexistence. He noted that the International Day of Conscience is a humanitarian message conveyed by Bahrain to the world in order to achieve peace and prosperity, noting that the global celebration of the event is an international recognition of the kingdom's achievements in the fields of toler ance, peace, coexistence and human rights.
