Shura Council Approves Draft Law on Advertisement Regulation

Doha: The Shura Council held its regular weekly session at Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Shura Council's headquarters, presided over by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.

According to Qatar News Agency, the session commenced with HE Shura Council Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud reading the agenda, followed by the approval of the minutes from the previous session. During the meeting, the Shura Council approved a draft law amending certain provisions of Law No. 1 of 2012, which concerns the regulation and monitoring of advertisements. This draft law was forwarded to the government after reviewing the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee's report and discussing its details.

Additionally, the Council examined the government's response to the proposal regarding 'rainwater remains and subsequent losses caused.' This matter was referred to the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee for further study and conclusions. The Shura Council had previously discussed this topic and submitted its views and proposals to the government.

Furthermore, the Council approved five requests to extend the work of its permanent committees, allowing them more time to study the topics referred to them. The session also included a review of the Council members' participation in the Arab Parliament's procedural session and the first plenary meeting of the fourth legislative term, held in Cairo in October 2024.

The Council also reviewed a report on the delegation's participation in the parliamentary meeting at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2024.
