Cairo: The Shura Council participated in the 45th meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, hosted at the Egyptian House of Representatives in Cairo. The Council was represented by HE Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting included the election of the President of the Assembly, where HE Dr. Mohammed bin Dakhil Al Mutairi of Saudi Arabia was elected as the President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments. Additionally, supplementary elections were conducted for members of the Executive Office.
The agenda of the meeting involved discussions on amending the association's bylaws, as well as various topics aimed at enhancing the association's work. The discussions focused on developing cooperation mechanisms between the general secretariats of Arab parliaments to improve parliamentary performance and facilitate the exchange of experiences among legislative institutions in Arab countries.
On the sidelines, HE Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud met with HE Counsellor Ahmed Ezzat Manna, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives of Egypt, to explore cooperation avenues. Both parties emphasized the significance of exchanging expertise and learning from successful experiences in the General Secretariat's operations, highlighting the importance of continuous coordination to achieve shared objectives.
