The Shura Council warned of the consequences of the international communitys inability to oblige the Israeli occupation forces to comply with international legitimacy resolutions, considering it a threat to international peace and security. This came in a speech delivered by HE Shura Council Member, Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie, who is also Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Member of the PAM's Bureau, during the opening of the 18th Plenary Session, which began today in the city of Braga, the Portuguese Republic, and continues for two days. HE Al Subaie referred to the dangerous Israeli escalation in all the occupied Palestinian territories up to the city of Rafah, expressing his regret for the Israeli entitys persistence in its war on the Gaza Strip. He said that whenever the opportunity arises to stop this brutal war on Gaza, the Israeli side persists in its stubbornness, highlighting Israel's declining of a Qatar-Egypt proposal which was approved by the Is lamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). His Excellency also stressed that the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, supported all peace endeavors and efforts made to find solutions to the Palestinian issue within the framework of international legitimacy and relevant United Nations resolutions. He added that peace is still possible as long as it is just and sustainable, restores rights to the Palestinian people and guarantees the establishment of their independent state within its borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He stressed the State of Qatar's belief in dialogue as a way to resolve problems and disputes between countries and between parties and conflicting movements within one country. He added that Qatar has succeeded in resolving many disputes and disputes between parties and between countries, and is still making strenuous efforts to reach a solution to many regional and international conflicts, and in particular to stop the aggres sion against Gaza. In another context, His Excellency touched on the topics of the 18th Plenary Session of the PAM, such as digital transformation, safe uses of artificial intelligence (AI), future prospects, climate change and energy transformation, and prospects for cooperation and regional economic transformation, highlighting the challenges posed by AI, especially in the military area, which threatens international peace and security. He called on parliamentarians to seek the assistance of experts and specialists in the field of digital technology and formulate laws and legislation in accordance with the experts proposals, ensuring the safe exploitation of artificial intelligence, and approving an international declaration that codifies its use without harming the interests of states and individuals. He explained that the State of Qatar is concerned with cybersecurity and the safe use of digital technology and artificial intelligence, pointing to Qatar's national strategy in the field of artificial int elligence, which revolves around six pillars: education, access to data, employment, business, research and ethics. The two-day event covers issues, including, among others, artificial intelligence and its impacts on energy and the work accomplished by the PAM Standing Committees. Source: Qatar News Agency
