Sinner Knocked Out of Qatar Open as Mensik Advances to Semi-Finals

Doha: World number two Jannik Sinner was knocked out of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open after losing to Czech 16th seed Jakub Mensik in the quarter-finals on Thursday. Sinner, 24, who has won 24 career titles including four Grand Slams, was unable to maintain his momentum in Doha as Mensik produced a strong performance to secure a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 victory.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Czech player will face France's Arthur Fils in Friday's semi-final. Fils progressed after defeating Czech eighth seed Jiri Lehecka in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Earlier, world number one Carlos Alcaraz booked his place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought win over Russia's Karen Khachanov, the 2024 champion. Alcaraz won 6-4, 6-3 in a match lasting two hours and 27 minutes.

The tournament, an ATP 500 event, continues in Doha with the semi-finals scheduled for Friday.
