Speaker of Shura Council Engages in Talks with Malaysian Senate President

Doha: HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met on Tuesday with HE President of the Malaysian Senate, Senator Dato' Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, who is visiting the country. At the outset of the meeting, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed the President of the Malaysian Senate, noting the solid relations between the State of Qatar and Malaysia and emphasizing that this visit represents an important opportunity to strengthen the existing parliamentary relations between the two countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the President of the Malaysian Senate highlighted the depth of relations between the two countries, stating that his visit is an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and coordinate positions in international forums to serve common interests.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the current parliamentary relations between the two countries and explored ways to enhance and develop them to serve the common interests of both nations, as well as to support Islamic and global issues. The Malaysian President of Senate commended the prominent role of the State of Qatar, led by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in facilitating a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The two sides also underscored the importance of continued coordination between the two countries to bolster international efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people, supporting their stability, and ensuring their legitimate rights as stipulated by international resolutions and charters.
