Doha: HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met today with HE Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary Dr. Laszlo Kover, who is visiting the country at the head of a parliamentary delegation. The visit was initiated by the Shura Council to bolster parliamentary cooperation between Qatar and Hungary.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Ghanim welcomed Dr. Kover and acknowledged the positive trajectory of Qatari-Hungarian relations, particularly in parliamentary collaboration. He noted that this visit is a significant step towards enhancing bilateral coordination and sharing legislative expertise.
Dr. Kover expressed admiration for the development of relations between the two nations, highlighting the recent momentum gained across various fields. He reiterated Hungary's commitment to expanding parliamentary cooperation to foster mutual understanding and support the interests of both countries.
The discussions largely centered on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. HE Al Ghanim outlined Qatar's extensive efforts under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to mediate a ceasefire, provide humanitarian aid, and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians amid ongoing conflict.
HE Al Ghanim emphasized the moral and political responsibilities of parliaments concerning the situation in Gaza. He called for unified parliamentary actions in international platforms to uphold justice, stop violations, and protect Palestinian rights.
Dr. Kover praised Qatar's humanitarian mediation efforts and its active role on the regional and international stage. He underscored the importance of sustained parliamentary dialogue between Qatar and Hungary to promote security and stability.
