Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam underscored the strong historical Bahraini-British ties and their continuous progress, especially in the financial, banking, economic and investment sectors; under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He praised the outcomes of the UK official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which stressed strategic partnership and close relations.
The speaker affirmed Bahrain's keenness to continue developing cooperation with the UK, and the engagement of the private sector in building partnerships that pave the way for projects and investments of added value; in line with the royal directives, and in the implementation of the government's program to achieve Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
He said that the visit reflects the significance of the two countries’ aspirations, which are underpinned by their historical relations that date back over 200 years.
The Speaker asserted that the legislative and economic policies of Bahrain support the strategic cooperation and partnership with the UK, affirming the Council of Representatives’ keenness to support all efforts to strengthen joint relations between the two countries.
He also highlighted the strong military and defence cooperation between Bahrain and the UK, which is supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He noted that this consolidated the role of both Bahrain and the UK in maintaining regional peace and stability.
Al Musallam commended the agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) announced during the official visit, which will contribute to strengthening existing partnerships and enhancing the Bahraini economy in line with the Economic Recovery Plan and Fiscal Balance Programme.
