Sports Minister Crowns Winners of Horse Races for QND, Founder Trophies

Al rayyan: HE Minister of Sports and Youth Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani crowned the winners of the horse racing for the Qatar National Day (QND) Trophy and the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Trophy held Saturday at Al Rayyan Grass Racecourse, featuring nine races with total prize money of QAR 2 million.

According to Qatar News Agency, in the ninth race, Group 3 Thoroughbred Open, for horses aged four years and above, over 2,350 meters, competing for the Founder's Trophy, the horse Arman, owned by Wathnan Racing, ridden by jockey James Doyle, and trained by Alban de Mieulle, claimed the title after finishing first.

In the eighth race, Group 2 Purebred Arabian, over 2,000 meters, for the National Day Trophy, the mare RB Mary Laila, owned by Wathnan Racing, under jockey James Doyle and trainer Alban de Mieulle, secured first place.

The horse racing card featured competition across the QND Trophy and Founder's Trophy races, as well as in the three cup races. In the seventh race, Group 3 Thoroughbred Open, 4 years and above, 2,350 meters, competing for the Al Safliya Cup, the horse Simca Mile, owned by Wathnan Racing and ridden by James Doyle, finished first. This marked the third consecutive year Wathnan Racing retained the cup after Hunted Dream's past victories. Trainer Alban de Mieulle celebrated his second consecutive win of the meeting.

In the sixth race, an Open Thoroughbred, 3 years and above, over 2,000 meters, the filly Doha Boothila won the Halul Island Cup. She finished first to achieve her second consecutive victory, retaining the title for the second year for her owner, trainer Alban de Mieulle, and jockey Sufian Saadi, following last year's win with Equinox.

The fifth race, Thoroughbred Open, 3 years and above, over 1,600 meters, saw Thors Hammer claim the Al Busayyir Cup, under trainer Jassim Al Ghazali and jockey Alberto Sanna, marking Sanna's second win of the card.

In the fourth race, Thoroughbred Open, 3 years and above, 1,200 meters, for the Falcon Cup, Taxiwala, owned by Eng. Osama Omar Ismail Al Daf, ridden by Lucas Delozie, finished first, retaining the cup for the second consecutive year and the third time in his career.

Additionally, three other races took place. In the first race for Maiden Purebred Arabians, 3-7 years, 1,600 meters, Taftan, owned by Ahmed Hassan Al Maliki Al Jehni, ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot and trained by Hamad Al Jehni, finished first.

The second race for Purebred Arabian Handicap (75-95), 4 years and above, 1,600 meters, saw Labwa du Carrier, owned by Al Mazroua Stud, ridden by Faious Martin Borja and trained by Mohammed Hussein Afroz, secure first place.

In the third race for Conditional Purebred Arabians, 3 years and above, 1,200 meters, Timur Al Shahaniya, owned by Al Bidaa Racing, led the race to finish first under jockey Alberto Sanna and trainer Ibrahim Khalid Al Ahmad.
