State Continues to Extend Authority Over All Territories, Says Lebanese Prime Minister

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has affirmed that the state will continue its efforts to extend its authority over all its territories using its own forces and to restrict the possession of weapons. He emphasized that the Lebanese Army continues to expand its deployment.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech marking the 100th day of his position as Prime Minister, Salam said that security and stability cannot be achieved as long as daily Israeli violations persist. He stressed the continuation of pressure to compel Israel to fully withdraw from all Lebanese territories, in implementation of Resolution 1701.

He also emphasized the need to provide all necessary conditions for the return of the people to their land with dignity and to rebuild what was destroyed by the Israeli aggression. Salam addressed the crises that have accumulated in his country over the past five years, exacerbated by the Israeli aggression, noting his conviction that salvation can only be achieved by launching a reform process that establishes a modern state, and by regaining the confidence of the Lebanese people, Arab partners, and the international community, leading to a sustainable economic and social recovery.

In the same context, Salam announced enhanced control over Rafic Hariri International Airport, amid administrative changes, technical and procedural improvements, and tightened measures to prevent smuggling and enhance safety. He said that Lebanon is facing a pivotal phase in its history, and the region around is witnessing historic transformations. He emphasized that Lebanon cannot thrive outside its Arab heartland and without a future vision.

Salam affirmed the continuation of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), emphasizing his government's commitment to stimulating economic growth and creating job opportunities through productive projects that build on its strengths.
