Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, affirmed that continuing to promote investment in various sectors to support economic development is a priority that Bahrain is working to achieve.
She said this positively contributed to achieving the goals of sustainable development, by continuing to work on implementing initiatives and programmes, line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
This came during a meeting between the minister and Mahmoud Mohieldin, Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), U.N. Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 held in New York under the theme "Accelerating the Recovery from the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels,' where Bahrain's Second Voluntary National Review on the progress toward achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) was presented.
They discussed the global efforts made by the IMF to support global economic growth, especially in the post-pandemic phase.
Bahrain is continuing its efforts to achieve economic recovery and financial sustainability to attain SDGs, the minister said.
Al Khulaif highlighted the importance of continuing to exchange expertise and information with the IMF at all levels to achieve common goals.
