Sweida Agricultural Directorate estimated the governorate’s total production of the almond crop for the current season at about 2,921 tons.
“Almonds production for this season is better than the previous two ones, and the total areas planted with this tree in the governorate reach 2,810 hectares, with more than 745,000 trees, of which 589,000 ones are fruitful.” Director of Sweida Agriculture Department Ayham Hamed said Monday in a statement to SANA.
Planting almond trees in the various regions of the governorate is important, as the tree is compatible with the environmental conditions and drought-tolerant, not to mention attaining economic feasibility for farmers, Hamed added.
