Doha: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani held a phone call on Thursday with Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand to review bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation. The two ministers agreed on the importance of developing ties in areas including economy, investment, transitional justice, and demining.

According to Qatar News Agency, Anand reaffirmed Canada's support for Syria, noting Ottawa's decision to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. She also stated that Canada would continue providing relief and development assistance inside the country.
