Syria Announces Carrying Limited Security Measures in Aleppo to Protect Civilians

Aleppo: The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that the government has conducted a limited security operation in several neighborhoods of Aleppo, including Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, in accordance with its commitment to the rule of law and the principles of non-discrimination, and with the aim of protecting civilians and restoring public order.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Syrian Foreign Ministry explained that these measures followed repeated violations of the agreed-upon security arrangements by armed groups affiliated with the Democratic Union Party (PYD), which resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties from attacks launched within residential areas on January 7 and 8.

The Ministry emphasized that the intervention is not a military campaign and does not target any specific social group, but is limited to armed groups operating outside the agreed-upon frameworks.

The statement added that Syria has simultaneously taken humanitarian measures, including opening safe corridors, cooperating with humanitarian organizations, and removing remnants of war in preparation for the return to normalcy.
